Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Radiation Source Rules Revision

Effective January 23, 2009, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has finalized rules it proposed in November 2008 relating to radiation sources. The main purpose of the new rules is to meet compatibility requirements with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations. Some of the new requirements include:

  • Incorporation of National Source Tracking of Sealed Sources rules,
  • Minor Corrections and Clarifications to Medical Use of Byproduct Material,
  • Requirements for Expanded Definition of Byproduct Material, and
  • Reporting changes for Occupational Dose Records, Labeling Containers, and Total Effective Dose Equivalent.
