Thermal Insulation Standards In Minnesota, Product Labeling Requirements

The Minnesota Department of Commerce (MDC) has proposed amendments to rules governing residential thermal insulation standards in Minnesota. Minnesota Statutes require the MDC to establish standards for the product quality, safety, installation, and labeling of residential thermal insulation products. MDC is considering rule amendments to:

1) change ASTM standards referenced throughout Parts 7640.0120 and 7640.0130 to the most recent versions,
2) change references relating to acceptance criteria for foam plastic thermal insulation products published by the International Code Council and adopted by reference by Part 7640.0130, and
3) amend two definitions in part 7640.0120 to be consistent with the proposed changes.

The amendment to the rules would likely affect manufacturers, wholesalers and installers of residential thermal
Insulation in Minnesota. MDC is accepting comments or information on this possible rule in writing or orally for 60 days.
