March AHMP-NSC Meeting - Industrial Storm Water Compliance, TSCA CDR Rule and Legal Update

The North Star Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP) is announcing its March General Membership Meeting. This month’s meeting will focus on several upcoming regulatory issues that will be of interest to members.

Date: Wednesday March 21, 2012
Time: 3:00 – 4:30 PM
Location:
Hennepin County Library – Golden Valley
Meeting Room
830 Winnetka Ave. N.,
Golden Valley, MN

Agenda:

MPCA Update on Industrial Stormwater Permitting Program

MPCA will be discussing its recent findings that significant numbers of permitted facilities have not submitted required reports and discharge monitoring summaries. The agency will be discussing its initiatives to identify unpermitted facilities and to increase compliance rates for permitted facilities.

New TSCA Chemical Data Reporting Rules

The new Chemical Data Reporting rule was finalized in 2011, and the current reporting period is from February to June 2012. This rule is a revision to the former Inventory Update Reporting (IUR) rule. Because this reporting is required every five years, many affected companies may not be aware of their TSCA reporting requirements under this rule.

Legal Update

Joe Maternowski, an environmental attorney with Hessian & McKasy, will be discussing two important issues related to contaminated sites in Minnesota; the increasing significance of vapor intrusion in evaluating property liabilities and implications of MPCA moving some sites from Voluntary Cleanup & Investigation (VIC) program back into State Superfund.

Membership:
The General Meeting is open to all North Star Chapter members – anyone else can become a member at the North Star Chapter website, or can print out the membership application ( http://ahmp-nsc.org/pdfs/memberap.pdf ) and bring it to the general meeting.

You do not need to be a Certified Hazardous Material Manager, or a member of the national AHMP group to be a member of the North Star Chapter.

Watch For Upcoming Meetings:
New OSHA Hazard Communication requirements and Globally Harmonized Standard for hazard identification and labeling
